Research projects underlie undergraduate and graduate studies and result from individual and collective efforts of its Faculty in the building of knowledge by scientific research with the involvement of students in the training of qualified professionals. The group of professors and students, with the support of the administrative body shaped around excellence in research, has shaped the profile of Geography at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. One of the most emblematic results of this work can be witnessed annually in the Scientific, Artistic, and Cultural Initiation Day of UFRJ.
